I don’t get the obsession some people have with having a “style” in any form of art. It always seems to be a cope for people who don’t want to improve and just label whatever shite they dump out “their style”. I have never strived to have a style I just want to take the best photos I can no matter what.

But the whole point of having a style is being good enough to take the best possible photos you can that all of your work follows a cohesive look.
That's why a lot of photographers who think they're good but are actually shit (ranging from genuinely dogshit photographers to the nature/landscape photographers who just do boring/overdone long exposures of literally everything) all have the same boring style. It's been done for decades and nobody has ever improved on it, just regurgitating the same shit that a million other people have.

You say that like it’s a self evident truth, why would I want that? Seriously why I’m not making a themed instagram, I’m not selling a book, I just want every individual image to stand up on its own. And even if I did want to sell books I’d rather be able to set a style for each individually
