>>4132122>Does anyone still use Instagram to share their work?Unfortunately, yes. I still do. I've posted over 1,900 photos of my locality (streets, buildings, landscapes, etc) and still average single digit likes. Took me about three years to even get 100 followers. Hardly any of them interact with my posts and those who do like my posts almost never follow. I even share posts to Twitter and also get awful engagement there. Someone encouraged me to start a website for my photos because they liked my work and it failed miserably, as my social media reach is so fucking shit.
>I feel like as of a couple of years back no one really uses hashtags anymore, and it's a bit more difficult to get picked up by the algorithm unless you're estalished already.I definitely agree it's much more difficult. The algorithm especially hates me; as people who have stolen or used my photos have gotten between 10-45x the likes I got for the originals. I wish I was able to join IG back in 2010-12. They started the login-gate shit months after I started posting. Then I was shadowbanned over a removed photo of a church and it never seemed to have recovered. I post a lot less now and my photography has slowed down a lot, as I have mined my local area quite a lot and so have less opportunities than before (also I am more of a hermit than I was). Though I will always take photos and I am glad I can do it now, I am seething and bitter about how awful IG is.
>What do you think?I hate that people get buried and ignored by the algorithm. T&A rules.
>Do you use Instagram?Unfortunately so. I stupidly thought that I would get work or money by posting a body of work.
>Are there people you actively follow?I like my friends stuff. I follow a couple of radio and comedian types.
>Do you search or hashtags?Occasionally.
>What hashtags do you use to get traction?Crazily, I use localities, roads and descriptors. I don't max them out, lest I be flagged for spam. This still gets me shitty 'reach'.
