Greetings, killing a thread with no remorse…
I got my first camera about a month ago, Canon Rebel T100, and have been looking for a suitable lens for it. My main aim is portraits, detailed human photography and wildlife. Could I get some recommendations from the pros? 1k range, best below 500. Thanks.

Wildlife needs a long tele, which can get expensive fast.
For portraits you need ~80mm, but the best ones are also expensive.

I'd recommend starting with something affordable and versatile like a nice 50mm 1.8 and then browse the Internet and watch youtube videos until you learn what would work best for your goals, budget, etc.

ur on apsc so 50mm = 81mm
81mm is good for portraits. buy the canon 50mm f/1.8 its a very good lens and cheap as fuck.

oof anon, I don't normally recommend upgrading bodies but that one is well worth selling for a better one and buying used

For portraits the 50mm posted above will serve you well on that camera.
Wildlife... Get a long zoom, EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM is a good one.

EF-S 55-250 IS STM, that exact variant. You can get it under $100 used and it is vastly sharper than the EF 70-300 which is a flaming pile of dogshit.

Throw that camer in the trash and start from scratch with a better full frame body. Then get a 28-300mm lens. That will cover everything you want to shoot.

And I'd like to do model style photography not just portraits.
But it seems like everyone is praising the 50.

It's as gimped as it can be. Canon didn't just cut corners, they actively made it frustrating. For example, the lack of a center pin in the hotshoe means you can't use universal flashes, and you can't even use some flashes specifically made for Canon that lack the right circuits. Yongnuo for example managed to give its users a firmware upgrade to keep compatibility.
They also made the mount plastic, more than a cost-cutting move it looks like artificially limiting its lifespan. They had to set up a different production line for that piece instead of using the ones from the existing lines, that hardly cuts any costs at all. The metal ring wasn't a lot of metal to begin with. The sensor is an old design that doesn't let you push shadows much before it shows pattern noise. So on and so forth, but if you can't sell it then use it until you feel like it's holding you back. Oh and read the manual, not being patronizing but there's plenty of features you can't easily make use of otherwise. Particularly custom functions like back button focus.
