more like the manufacturer puts that setting on by default and people are too dumb to turn it off and just roll with the watermark

There are two reasons I've done it in the past.
1. Flex a new phone because I used to think other people gave a shit about my life and what I waste money on.
2. Pretty easy timestamp.
Also, it was 1 button to remove if needed.
