35 year old DSLRs still work. The image quality achieved by 15 year old DSLRs and lenses is still superior to phones in some ways, and both have long since surpassed the point of sufficiency for the way most people view photos (8x10 and smaller).

The camera you have now will still be working 35 years from now and will probably work for longer than that. China will stop making batteries for it before it dies and it will still run on direct power.

You have no idea how good moving parts have gotten since the days of MADE IN AMERIKUH FURD TRUCKS. You see, shit is actually built to last now, and has been for a while. Japanese made mechanical cameras with even more moving parts are still working fine after having the corrosion and dirt cleaned out.

lmao i have a laptop from 1995 that still works like new, only the LCD is slightly faded. my dad has a guitar amp from the 50s that's all original and just has the tubes replaced every 5 years. electronics are basically immortal.

OP is right, autofocus and electromagnetic aperture will eventually die, some for sale like this even state manual focus doesn't work because it's not coupled, the ring controls the motor so when it fails as ots planned to (look into planned obsolescence) your lens is destined for one of these coffee cups

Also hoarding after 35 years doesn't mean they still work or will work once someone decides to actually shoot with it more than a few sale test shots

I've got a five year old Nikon D850 with only 20,000 shutter count, and some of my lenses are over a decade old. None of them have any signs of issues or failure but have cosmetic wear. I could probably use this equipment for another ten years or longer with no issues since I don't shoot more than 1-2 rolls worth when I go out with intent.
