It was a problem with early eye-af that it has only worked for the parade portrait examples, just a single person, no backlight etc.
IIRC Sony introduced registered faces even before eye-af to improve on auto af as there was no way to select between faces. The A7III has no way to select between random faces, still. While the A7 III was updated several times, keep in mind, it was introduced in 2017.
To be fair, Sony often taps into new waters and brings new ideas that then may have limitations and even major problems, still.

I've replied in several threads to give a different perspective or at least a response, tried to be factual, helpful, reply to photo threads, too. The stats are from 2021, and show mirrorless accounted for 67% of ILC total value sold, and rapidly increasing.

It shows Sony on a rocketship whilst canon is losing marketshare and expects to lose a lot more (it says they expect a 10% increase in revenue in 2022, but they had a 20% increase the previous year and still lost a lot of ground, so that's only predicted to get worse).

It shows sony lead mirrorless sales in 2021, despite canon and Nikon really pushing their new mirrorless lines.

Will be interesting to see their data for last year and how well it matches bcn's last quarter report.

a 50mm f2 equivalent from fuji costs $600, full frame is much cheaper, remember full frame only needs to resolve half as much detail to give equal performance, a $50 yongnuo 50mm f1.8 is sharper and lets in more light!

Because some people actually like Fujifilm, believe it or not. I personally like not having to fuck with colors and I know how to light my subjects. If you’re always at 25600 iso, you’re doing something wrong and you need to reevaluate your life. The furthest I’ve ever needed to go was 6400 and it was literally in pitch black night outside at 1.2.

I've always hated fuji (raw) colors and their oversharpened film wannabe DRO whatever jpegs. Fuck the chintzy camera computer, I have an actual laptop that can batch process the photos while I look at porn.

I'm often at ISO 12800 for faster shutter speeds because I like animals and animals like to move around a lot especially when it's kind of dim out.

Fuji also has slower/less accurate AF and most of their cameras have dogshit ergonomics full of useless crap dials. Why would I spend thousands on a fuji setup when an older full frame DSLR does the exact same thing and feels better in hand, or a used sony costs the same and is better?

Lol ok, I have a high six figure salary and 0 debt so I can photograph for fun instead of bragging about getting into 2 by 3 insets in magazines and never venturing beyond flash photography with interesting subjects such as perfume bottles and hamburgers. You don't even need some $2000 fujishit for that. I could buy a $50 lumix from 10 years ago and do that, just spend 1 hours on calibrating and setting up batch processing and call the colors good.
