Why does anyone use Lightroom?
Isn't it just a cropped down version of Photoshop?
I dont see any real advantage of it. You get it bundled in with Photoshop for free, but it seems to me that it does a lot less than Photoshop, and yet its given a shitload of airtime online.

Yeah, the actual answer is the organizational functionality and then the much speedier workflow for making a bunch of quick global adjustments, which comprise most of the work most people are doing on most photos.

Plenty of viable alternatives exist nonetheless with most of the same functionality, like Capture One for those who want a one-off license, or Darktable which is honestly (for the low cost of free) competitive or maybe even more powerful in what it can do if you take the time to learn the intricacies, e.g. the differences between very similar tools, what the values represent, and then larger concepts like the scene-referred workflow they've been pushing.

It does have some advantages over PS. While Adobe camera raw is in PS, it doesn't have the nice organizational tools and batch editing that LR does.
Adobe Camera Raw sucks, and should not be used. PS is good for tiff editing/preparing files for print.

Darktable is as good or worse than rawtherapee. Its especially when it comes to color management.

Honestly can't bring myself to try Rawtherapee because of how retarded the name looks. It's a bad reason but if something like that annoys me, it just really makes me not want to deal with the thing.

I dont know what you mean. Adobe RAW can open and edit dozens of photos at once and sync up the settings with one click.

Adobe camera raw should not be used. Shitty demosaicing, poor color management, unavoidable noise reduction and sharpening and unavoidable non linear tonal edits are just some of things ACR does poorly.
There are many other features missing from ACR that are common in other raw editing software such as flat field correction, dark frame subtraction, abstract working color spaces, highlight compression, tone mapping, negative conversion, and keystone correction just to name a few. Garbage program.
