My main functional criticism of bags is that they are only useful for storage and everyday/passive carry, have no advantage when using the camera. Should you be constantly packing and unpacking the camera, bags even get in the way. For camera work, I leave the camera unpacked, either in my hand or - for moving it out-of-the way for short or for lens change - clipped or hung to me. I have a Spider holster for the latter. One looks just still incredibly idiotic, but packed with all the photo nonsense I do that anyway, maybe then "professional" instead of "stupid". Moreover, it is still not suitable for all situations. A jacket, formal pants/belts may not be suitable.
