That's vatnik logic. Yes, it's the same as saying someone is bullying you because they told the hall monitor that you punch kids for lunch money, because that prevents you from punching kids for lunch money. But they really think like that.
Russia has a similar gripe with the US they waged their own proxy wars over - "if we let the americans do this, they set a precedent where they can turn any small country into a puppet state for their economic goals and then establish territory to set up more puppet states"
And look what happened!
