In a big city the most realistic "haha no I win, fucker!" comeback is shooting the guy and then saying "i feared for my life" over and over again. If it's a big city in a liberal state and he only had fists, that's not actually going to work. Might work in texas. Or you could punch them in the face instead.
If this is a smaller place and an assault charge will happen, it's either a month in jail or a grand in bail - more often a fine and literally nothing - and it changes literally nothing. You can pay to have it taken off your record. Even if you don't you can get any job you want with a felony in the US as long as it's not child rape and people definitely don't give that much of a shit about a *man* with a misdemeanor assault charge. It practically comes with the territory of dealing with men. 50% of the population 80% of the violent crime, and if you ever ask us, most of it should be decriminalized. As for the wife, the majority of women will like you more for it.
