AI wins photo contest.

Suprised this hasnt been posted here yet since its been discussed in tons of other places. An AI won a photo contest with this picture. These AI's are evolving really damn fast. It makes me realize that landscape photography is done for. The AI's will master it soon and there are milliions and millions of landscape shots online to train from.
We had a good run, so glad I got into photography before AI existed and nobody will ever be able to experience photography in a world without ai ever again. Are you scared /p?

If there is enough landscape film shots online ai will figure it out.

The thing is that photo is actually pretty good even though it sucks to admit that.
I agree film will probably take longer as everybody edits there digital shots so much you can get away with it looking a bit fake.
The thing is the AI is evolving crazy fast. Its gone from non existant to winning photo contests in a few years. It will just keep improving. Feb 2023 its fooling judges in photography contests, thats a pretty big jump.

You're imposing way too much of your squeamishness onto others. Nobody who has been doing landscape photography for the last x years will stop because of AI let alone someone other. If you don't understand that, you've never really photographed.

I would be pretty pissed if I was getting up at 4am, going on a 2 hour hike, 2 hours shooting, the time hiking back, all the time editing. Upload and get beaten by some guy who spent 2 minutes typing a prompt into an ai sitting at home and got a better photo...

Its going to have an impact. I dont see any point denying it.

One good thing that may come of this is I am predicting a boom on flickr as pure photography as an artform makes a comeback and photographers all group up on a specific photography platform.

No, I mean, you can't generate the physical film shot. You can print a digital file to film, but this can be detected really easily. Real film shots and optical prints from them are going to get waay more popular, mark my words
