The sony FE 50mm f1.8 might get shit for its autofocus and complaints from MTF chart nerds that skip pixel peeping in an admission that they can't actually see the difference - and even worse, people that expect 90lp/mm wide open (like that's a good thing), but the rendering is beyond stellar.
The nikon, with 12 elements in 9 groups for a 50mm prime, is a travesty of lens modernity. Scientific metrics are satisfied, easily charted but not exactly visible... and sadly the glass doesn't filter photons anything like your eyes.
Having that many elements is what I would expect of a telephoto, or a retrofocus wide angle, however for a 50 you're just begging for all the magic to be missing from your photos. I draw the line at 9 elements for normal primes in the 28 to 65mm range.
