Canon 6D II vs RP

No.4149418 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Looking to upgrade from my old Canon 500D to a full frame soon
I have my eyes on a 6D ii or an RP. I only have one EF lens (50mm f/1.8) as is, so I am not super comitted to any specific mount.
Should I go with the RP (which I can get cheaper, but have to buy a new 50mm prime), or wait for 6d ii to go on offer for roughly the same price as the RP (it often drops to a similar price)? I like to bring my camera hiking, so size might be a bit annoying, but I am a big guy, so a few hundred grams shouldn't reeeeeaaaallly make all the difference.
The 6D II would be buying into a dying/dead mount, but there are plently of lenses out there for it, and might save me some money, by buying used lenses. Also, adapters exist if I change mount later down the line.
One thing holding me off from just going with the obvious RP (mirrorless is the future) is battery life. The 6D II should have much better battery life, and when hiking, I don't want to have to buy loads of batteries just for the camera to last a while.
I mostly do landscapes / travel photography.
