Be careful. Camera bodies with mismatched flashes can sometimes cause problems. Some cameras and flashes have crossed wires when attached together. Power can go the wrong way and fry the circuits one way or the other.

thanks for the heads up, I don't think it'd be a problem for this thing since it's battery operated and just has the one center pin, think it's just got a corroded compartment that needs filed.

If you step the voltage up, as old flashes often do, batteries can fry certain cameras no problem.

The original A7 can take only up to 6v, according to fellow nophotos over at dpreview https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3668909

But godox/yongnuo flashes are $50 so is it worth frying a digital camera?

Yes, the a7iii can handle 250V. You can check the flash with a voltimeter, it should be ok.
