There is some sort of mold in an old camera body I inherited from my grandfather.
Is this an issue I can ignore?
If not, how can I get rid of it without risking damaging the body or future films?

It looks to be the old foam light seals are disintegrating. You can buy and cut new pieces to adhere into the camera or else your film will get light leaks or potentially be ruined.

The acetone will delete the black paint/coating so you don't wanna use that.
Personal experience.

I use brake cleaner or alcohol to dry the goop out, then its easier to scrape off.

Second anon is correct, most paint is adversly affected by acetone.

Just use rubbing alcohol
