>>4152954>It’s the reverence. The worship. The glowing praises. That is what negates artistry. The man and machine parables, the poetic love, it’s excuse makingI mean I think I see what you're getting at, but plenty of very accomplished guitarists named their guitars for fuck's sake. Eric Clapton and Steve Vai had weird borderline love affairs with their instruments. Talk about them like they have a soul.
Complete lunacy, I'd call them idiots. But they're both fantastic guitarists in their own right.
Cameras, like guitars, are mass produced tools made to be marketed and purchased. It isn't as simple as that, though. Engineering is an art, after all. I'm a graphic designer by trade, I appreciate aesthetics, I can appreciate a nice looking and well made thing. That doesn't negate the art made with said tool.
I can see why gearfaggotry upsets you, anon. I just think you're conflating it with specsfags. THOSE are the real retards. Those within the gearfag ranks that will argue for hours about test charts and comparing specs. Caring more about theoretical technical limits than the art made with the tool. These people are cancer... but I wouldn't describe them as the prototypical gearfag.
