Videographers. it shoots 10 bit 6.2k video. And poorer hobbyists. It costs $1699. The A7IV is better, and $1699 used, but it's $2499 new and the X-T5 is $1200 used. And most people don't want a much older camera because they're afraid it will break or was abused.

Yes, I know, /p/ will buy a D810 for $500 off craigslist or a cheap used nikon Z5. Most people think any ad for old shit is a scam and it'll break a week later.

While not new, you can assume the A7IV and Canon R6 were comparatively cheap, too, due to cashback promitions. At least they were in Europe.
Also despite their recent introduction and a higher price tag, I didn't think I'd see A7RV and R6II in this list. I kekd heartily at the Canon 50mil lenses to be Canons highest ranking

While I agree, I have the EF STM rather only for legacy reasons and practically put it to use never due to it's problems. I'd rather shoot the 40/2.8 pancake or of it's for image quality the 24-70/2.8

It's also a bit surprising that people go for the 24-70 bigma more do than 28-70 contemporary.
Almost like compactness wasn't even that important, at least not as much as claimed by reviews last few years. That was original mirrorless pitch. Turns out slightly wider but heavier zoom sells more.

Realistically speaking, what lens should I get for my XT3 that isn't incredibly expensive to replace my kit 18-55. I do travel photography most of the time (all the time).

The RF version is much better than the EF (imo). I don't use it very much either but sometimes I do. It has a nice 3D pop to it.

The Sigma 18-50 2.8 is basically the same size as the kit zoom and pretty affordable if you'd prioritize compactness and a faster constant aperture at the expense of OIS (matters less on newer IBIS bodies), zoom range, and aperture ring (which I prefer not having actually, especially on a zoom with several other control rings). It's cheaper, smaller, and optically about up to par with the Fuji 16-55 2.8, but also compared to that, lacks full weather sealing, however there's still a mount gasket which is imo by far the most important seal point in practical use (for keeping dust out of the sensor chamber) since I'm not one to ever trust WR to shoot a bunch in a downpour or whatever. One other perk to the Sigma is it is almost a pseudo-macro with its close-focusing capabilities, especially on the wide end.

lol my xh2 was $1350 during black friday. even now the xt5 is still more expensive. it's stupid it should be the other way around

tldr; size/etc doesn't matter because most camera buyers are nophotos

Outside of pro's and dedicated hobbyists, most cameras spend a lot of time sitting on a bookshelf or in a drawer. Ergonomics, weight and size, etc are generally things that people who shoot a decent bit care about, but for someone who uses their camera maybe 12 times a year and uploads the photos via app to Apple or Google photos? Non issue.

And don't forget, if you've ever had the misery of going to an 'event' hosted by your local camera shop, there's a huge chunk of this hobby that's just weird 50 year old men snapping photos of mid-women 'models' using settings told them to by an actual professional.

You can see this with other gear too. I am biased towards wildlife and nature here, but when you look at what actual pros use, it's generally NON camera brand gear and camera cubes. Backpanel loaders leak, harness systems are far superior on actual hiking packs, and camera gear isn't fine china. It's pretty tough.

100mm-125mm is my most used range, portraiture and landscape because my landscapes are typically far away in order to get clean shots. I miss my 70-200 on my old camera. Maybe I’ll make money with my camera, I dunno, the world is probably ending soon impossible to predict the future.

The Fuji 18-55 f/2.8-4 is widely considered to be probably the best kit lens currently in any system. You basically only would ever upgrade from it if you want a constant aperture and/or longer zoom range. The former is why I have the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 now, but in the latter case I'd consider the 16-80 f/4 over the big expensive 16-55 f/2.8. I guess there's also the Tamron zoom that kinda hits all the bases except being compact like the Sigma.

I would certainly rather get the sigma 18-50 but yes the XF 18-55 is very usable. Without EXIF no one would negatively comment on the optical characteristics of the images. Or rather, if the images are bad it won't be the lens fault. I think Anon should go by what he sees rather than what people tell him he should see, a trap leading to endless gearfaggotry.

Lumix 20-60 is great for basically being given away with every S camera. Super happy with mine. Very sharp, weather sealed and well balanced. Will save for a fast 35mm prime at some point.
