>>4156830Can someone help me decide something?
I am currently on the canon 500d and have the kit lens + 50mm f1.8.
I am looking to upgrade, but I am not sure which direction to go, smaller or bigger.
Right now there are 2 offers / promotions going on. So I have narrowed it down to getting either:
>Canon 6D MIIor
>OM-5I want to get more into wildlife photography, so I want to get the body + a long lens. I also want a general purpose lens, but I only need that for the OM-5, since I already have the 50mm prime for the Canon, which is fine for the time being.
If I go 6D MII, I would get the sigma 150-600mm Contemporary and already have the 50mm
If I go OM-5, I would get the 40-150mm F4 Pro and the 12-45 F4 Pro
These two setups are about same price.
So, canon pros and cons:
Pros:
>Full frame (looks better, allows me to do astro as well)>can keep using lens I already own>more reach>better battery lifeCons:
>heavier and bigger (I want to take it hiking, so weight is of some importance, though not crucial)>Dead mount>OlderOM-5
Pros:
>EVF>better AF and other mirrorless advantages>newer>lighter and smaller>Weather sealing>stabilization>the Pro lenses seem to be pretty goodCons:
>M43 just doesn't look as good imo>less reach (but that could be remedied down the line, if I feel like I really need the extra reach OR get the 100-400 from the beginning)>cant do landscape and astro as good>worse battery lifeEverybody in comments, blog posts, forum posts etc. always praise Olympus / OMDS, and how they love their M43 kits. I don't see the same enthusiasm from fool framers generally. Is M43 enthusiasm cope, or is it really that nice to use? Full frame is objectively better, but is it worth the cost, weight, size etc.? Is it retarded to buy an EF mount DSLR in 2023?
Thanks in advance
