I know Japan is infamous for buying gear, but how is Thailand? I might move there in a week and I might want to buy a Fuji 35mm 1.4. would it be cheaper to buy in Thailand or the US?

I bought a 70-350 in canada because snoy decided to announce it at same price in canadian tire coupons and it ended up being ~$650 murican.
Bongs say for some lenses it's cheaper to get a 2 way ticket to NY and buy a lens in B&H than pay local in pounds.

Cheap high quality used lenses from reputable stores like map camera

If you're okay with losing international warranty and can deal with a Japanese menu then snoy bodies are also much much cheaper.

In person you buy tax free with a gaijin passport and don't have to pay buyee fees either
That said don't go to Japan just for camera gear, but if you're already going there then it's nice extra savings

You are uikely to save anything by buying in Thailand, import tax on such items is quite high. Also your warranty will only be valid I Thailand.

There are a couple of camera shops in MBK that have a small selection of 2nd hand gear. If I remember correctly they are two branches of the same shop but I can't recall the name off the top of my head.
