>>4160346>The S90/95 does have some magic to it though. But then again, so do a lot of other Powershot models from that era.I agree to an extent. This thread and the progression of conversation sucks though. Its just retarded children using poop as crayons to write words on a wall.
I personally own an s95 and other canon powershots as well as have owned a dozen others. I have the s95 as it is small and has access to more features out of the box than other models. Other models of course can use CHDK to access these features and more. I run CHDK on my s95 as well.
Overall I feel the s95 isn't one of the better powershots as it is over pixelated. 8mp is the peak of canon performance with its powershot 1/1.7, 1/1.8, 1/2.3, 1/2.5 and 1/2.7 sensor sizes.
Also I prefer canon's DIGIC III processor over its DIGIC 4 found in the s95 and the DIGIC II found in older models. III lacks a few features and doesn't do as well in low light as 4 but does creates an arguably higher quality picture. II and I are unfinished and not very good at creating a picture.
If I could get an s95 lens and feature set with an 8mp 1/1.7 senor that utilized DIGIC III I absolutely would. Canon never made anything like this unfortunately. I suspect they never did as it they were rushing forward to push sales and may have also realized such a combo was too powerful to sell as it would have been obviously a superior powershot model. There are some models that come close to my preferred specs but they are found in the sd line of powershots and utilize a mismatched sensor and lens combo. The the sd cameras with 1/1.8 and 1/1.8 sensors in bodies with lenses designed for 1/2.3, 1/2.5 and 1/2.7 sensors aren't that great as the lens is too small in design for the larger senors. These cameras look good on paper but don't have irl performance to match.
