How do I achieve this aesthetic? What is the name of this style, what camera do I need, how should I edit the photo, etc. Would love to get into photography as a hobby so any help is appreciated :))

The missed focus and the overpowered flash tells me it was most likely taken on a basic 90s point-and-shoot. They're still pretty cheap, so you can just get one, but an SLR will give you more control over the results.

Yes, but how any phones can sync a flash?

Also once you have faces in the frame phones are not going to want to focus on the background.

This seems to be the only 'how dey do dat' thread, so I'll ask here. What do you do to make a photo look like this? Any particular camera settings or types of edits to try out?

Underexpose so nothing clips
Bring highlights down to recover the sky or bring shadows up to recover the landscaoe
Mask anything that looks like shit from this and re-adjust whatever it was that made it look like shit
