>>4163296Monochrome film is based bc you have lots of creative control will with hundreds of different developers, concentrations, push/pull dev, and lots of different film options. From cms 20 ii to hp5+ pushed to 6400, you have lots of different iso options. Colored filters can give great looks if used properly.
B/w film is extra based since its pretty easy to set up an enlarger in your bathroom and make beautiful silver gelatin prints. Making exhibition quality silver gelatin prints is a real challenge, especially compared to digital.
Not to mention that b/w film is sharper at any given iso(look at the Kodak MTF charters for Tmax 100 and 400 and compare to color stocks) and cheaper.
Color film is cringe bc you can get better results for cheaper using digital. The control that you get in development is largely gone, unless you want to deep fry it on purpose.
Its also cringe bc color film is more consoomerist. The different looks come from the film you buy, not how you shoot it/dev it.
RA4 printing is a real pain in the ass for shitty, dye based RC prints that fade in normal viewing conditions. Modern pigment based inkjet are superior in everyway.
Shooting color then scanning it is just more expensive digital with extra steps. Film scans require more processing (dusting), and can't pushed as far as modern digital raws in post. It just doesn't make sense to shoot color film anymore.
