I really liked the tones and colors I would get out of this cheap little shitbox when I had one. Decided to get rid of it in favor of a 5D Mark II because it provided very limited performance in autofocus, shooting speed, and LMAO even dynamic range. Despite this, it was fun to use for a few snapshits. Post your favorite 5D shots ITT.

MKII gang reporting in. Almost went for the classic but the MK2 made more sense for me right now. Life improved drastically after I started only selecting the center AF point and lining up my shots after focusing. I was having the worst time with the camera searching for focus and hitting the wrong target.

After 24-36mp it’s about as good as 35mm film unless you’re a brainless sovlfag. Really expensive digital cameras can equal 645. 6x7+ with an equally good lens is still untouchable though (most people can’t afford an equally good lens)

It is for image quality. It’s cold unfeeling engineering and charts.

The rest is subjective bullshit, myths and bullshit truisms people tell themselves when they doubt their $4000 digital setup/the $4000 they’ve spent on film after realizing for a moment they aren’t actually great photographers.

Why would you do it any other way on a 5D?

Compared with more capable systems, it is a shitbox.

>only one good AF point
>slow continuous speed
>merely adequate resolution
>narrow dynamic range (see lego astronaut, highlights were completely crushed in raw before I baked it)
>no live view makes it more difficult to compose images at awkward camera positions
>shit-tier playback screen
>poor low light and high ISO performance
>little room to make adjustments in post compared to more modern systems

It does offer a nice and simple shooting experience with far fewer distractions compared to modern cameras, and the photos that come SOOC can be absolutely gorgeous with few other models producing such pleasing results without a lot of tweaking in post, but it is severely limited in several ways as I outlined in greentext.
