I'm genuinely not sure how this passed as a photograph, especially an old daguerreotype or similar process. The hand the right side of the image as well as nose on the figure behind is especially fucked up. The DOF isn't thin enough to mimic the look either. There is just no way you could get both faces in focus with a LF camera. The hand on the left side of the photo should be in focus, but isn't. The longer you look at it, less like a photo it looks like.
To speak about AI generated "photos" more generally. I'm not worried about being replaced as a photographer anytime soon. I have a client that trad artist that fucks around with the AI generated stuff, he's had me print some of his generated images. The programs output jpgs with very limited resolution, and they print like absolute dogshit. They're very smooth and don't have defined edges or texture. They're really only convincing if scrolled by on a feed on your smartphone. If you actually download them, or blow them up for print, they quickly fall apart.
I don't see them replacing anything other than clickbait internet BS. Serious ad photos that printed for large for signs and whatnot will not be replaced by these generated images.
>>4168619The fine art world? Forget about it. These competitions shouldn't be taken seriously bc they have send in some low res jpg instead of actually viewing prints. These programs can't generate convincing 8x10 prints, let alone larger prints of exhibition quality.
