All the knowledge today is concentrated on video, and it's pretty easy to transfer it from it to photography, since photography is just video made easier since you've always access to raw. They even teach better practices, photography will tell you that you can fix everything in post, crop like you wish, fix white balance on a whim, while cinematography will teach you importance of getting it right on the scene, saving time by correctly setting wb, and only tweaking end footage slightly in post.
