The best camera I have ever used.

24-240 lens. 12mp. 1 inch sensor. Super 16 look. Mechanical shutter. Jpeg only. Simple UI. Great colours. Long battery life. Best image stabilisation ever created. Takes great video. Great stereo mic. Extract photos from video in camera.

Why is nobody else using this camera? It was a gift from canon in 2017...

Maybe because the GH5 was out and, at the time, pretty much dominated the small sensor camera market. Body only, it was $1600, but the XC10 was $2500 and the XC15 was $3000. Not exactly cheap for what is essentially a handycam with "pro" features that aren't really pro features. For example, it has c-log, but it's limited to 8-bit. The XC15 comes with an XLR top handle, but it's limited to 16-bit/48kHz. 10x optical zoom is nice, but a variable aperture isn't suited for a video camera. Also, the lens fixed, so you can't swap it out for a different lens when needed. Overall, it's just a very niche camera.

I do kind of like the form factor, though...

I have 3 XC10s and while I like them they can be a pain in the ass. Primary reason is 4K only recorded to CFast cards. CFast sucks absolute ass and I have only ever had shit experience importing footage from them. The worst issue I have at the moment is that Windows constantly fucks up the import while somehow macOS does it fine, which is insane as my Windows editing PC is extremely powerful and the bloody filesystem is native to Windows while mac needs a plugin to run it. Then after all that bullshit I have to truck it over to my NAS or Windows PC. Just shot something on XC10 this weekend and not looking forward to the ingest at all.
