>>4174140The R8's competition from Sony is the A7C. Here's what you forgot to mention while shilling against Canon.
>4k60 vs 4k30>1080p180 vs 1080p120>full 4:2:2 10-bit internal vs 4:2:0 8-bit internal and only 4:2:2 8-bit external>40 fps vs. 10 fpsYou mock the R8's video specs but limiting the A7C to 4k30 is pure cripple-hammer by Sony (that must mean Sony hates you). And 4:2:2 10-bit means you have far greater flexibility and DR in your video files. For serious video the R8 is superior. And that brings us to the reason WHY the R8 lacks IBIS and mechanical shutter: it is primarily a CINEMA tool, built to a price point, with the money put towards sensor/chipset for better video specs.
If you are primarily or only a stills shooter, then you shouldn't be looking at any of these cameras. Your budget will go much, much farther putting together a used DSLR kit. If you're looking at video only or primarily video hybrid, the R8 is a nice camera.
Your only valid complaint against Canon right now is the 3rd party lens situation on RF. It's utterly stupid for Canon not to court the big 3rd party lens manufacturers. But there are indications that Canon is not blocking development per se, they were just pissed over tech stolen by the Chinese manufacturer who had some RF AF lenses on the market. (Namely an "approved" 3rd party AF lens has been announced by someone else.)
The 3rd party lens situation is partially offset by perfect EF compatibility as the EF library is still the largest in existence.
