I have a DSLR and a little bit of experience with the basics of photography; I really want a digital camera that will shoot photos that have "the film look" straight out of the camera. I know no digital camera will emulate film perfectly without a significant amount of post-production editing but ideally I'd like to get as close as possible in-camera. After doing some research I keep seeing the Sigma DP2 Merrill mentioned a lot; some of the sample photos I see taken with it look meh but some of them look incredible, like pic rel. They're going for about $600 and I am very aware of all the drawbacks (slow write speed, forced to use proprietary software to process RAWs, horrible battery life, etc etc) but I can't seem to find any other cameras that will give me something similar for the price

So I want to ask: is this camera worth it for what I'm looking for?
