>>4190351It's not even about the "retro" design. In the used market, these fairly recent cameras go for really cheap, cheaper than any other cameras released at the time.
I've found multiple listings for the Olympus E-PL8, E-PL7 and E-P5 almost new for 200 euro in my region.
I just want a compact camera, with a shutter that doesn't sound like an RC Car (Sony), has IBIS and feels solid in the hand while not being as huge as my X-H1.
I've made my mind after looking at the compact lenses available for M43, they all suck. The 20mm f1.7 came close, but I'd be bothered by it eventually. Not getting into M43 any time soon.
I really didn't want to go with Sony, but it seems like the last choice.
Fuji doesn't have IBIS on any small bodies.
Lumix is M43 and more expensive than Olympus for the same sensor.
Canon discontinued the EOS-M line (although their 22mm was lovely there won't be any more lenses for it in the future and I mainly shoot with 40-50mm equivalents).
Nikon isn't even trying.
>bear with me here, shoot film.I am already into film, I have a Minolta XD11 that I personally recapped along with a 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm lenses. Incredible camera, no wonder Leica copied the design.
Ever since Fuji discontinued Superia XTra 400 I've been unmotivated, I still have about 9 rolls on cold storage but since I'll probably never be able to buy them again I am saving them for special occasions.
The only other film stock I enjoy is Vision 3 250d but no lab will develop it in my area and I sure am not gonna pay Cinestill prices for it.
