Cameras can not make something look even remotely like it did to the human eye unless the scene has less than 8 stops of dynamic range. If your full frame wunderkamera says it has 14, that's all "invisible" and can only be seen by fucking with curves, sliders, and these tools. The human eye can see over 20 stops of dynamic range at once. It's not an artificial eyeball, it's not even close. Eyes are like the world's most advanced HDR cinema camera and can dynamically vary its framerate from 10 to 20 to 200FPS or more.
If you want an immersive photograph, these edits are almost mandatory.
