Most industrial controllers are made this way, but of course they just have to work flawlessly in harsh conditions for decades, not be sold to fickle consoomers. I worked in composites until about 12 years ago and the misconceptions people have about plastic is kind of funny. Glass vs CF too, for that matter. This includes pricing. People think CF is way more expensive than glass fiber when the reality is that most of that price increase happens on the consumer end, not supply side, because people want to see the CF weave and leave it unpainted. That means you have to make your layups much more aesthetically pleasing which takes more time with higher reject rate. The parts are still perfectly fine, of course. But muh bubble.
