>>4178934I like them a lot.
I have tried multiple brands, Promaster HGX Prime, K&F Concepts, Polar Pro, and of course the Platinum
Platinum sits right in the "its cheap enough to buy a lot, but not so shitty I wouldn't want to use it" tier.
ProMaster coating is "better" in a way, it beads up water and creates a better seal. Saying that, do you NEED to have those coatings? I don't shoot in the rain much.
Polar Pro I wanted for my 150-500, it has a brass ring so it threads on/off nicer than other aluminum filters.
Platinum can get "stuck" if you only use your hands. Buy a set of filter removal tools (basically plastic rings that grip a filter to remove them). Honestly once I bought a set, removing them is 100% better, but you do have to carry them with you if you want to change filters (like a UV to a CPL or ND or something)
The UV filters are 'nothing special' but they don't ruin the image or cause any extra blur as long as they're wiped clean. They serve more as a front element to prevent sand or other shit from scratching your lens. If you want better flare resistance, maybe get a ProMaster. Or just use a lens hood, lmao
In short, you'll be happy with them, I am, at least.
sorry about the shit edit, i didn't set the white balance and am too lazy to make it better
