Let's discuss the current state of lenses.

Containing too many elements, they have become unnecessarily bulky (any lens over 5cm long is), and even old Russian crap like the Helios-44 is fine. Actually, it makes nicer photos "even if" it is "soft" and "much worse in the corners" (protip don't hide your subject in the corner wtf). No one but you will ever look at a 100% crop of the photos you've taken, but you remain concerned about purple fringing and strong lens flare (don't look directly into the sun with the viewfinder).

Your dumb Snoy with more than 12 megapixels, which would be enough pixels for everyone except conspicuous consoomers, is a $4000 product to cope with the fact that you paid $2000 for a lens. When you look at crops from 50 megapixels cameras you start freaking out about purple fringing like a schizo who hears voices no one else hears.

Fuck Ansel Adams for turning art into autism. Using a light meter is already a crutch and then you double-down with the zone system which is a way to do extra autism after literally measuring light. I just use 1/500s f/16 if it's sunny and a flash if it's dark.

Do you agree /p/?
