Filters are mostly for people that like to achieve a look mostly in camera. You don't need any excuses to consoom

technically no filter can be replicated by editing because each photosite is somewhat sensitive to more than just its assigned color and even color filters will cause a unique effect

digital diffusion, like a shitty character lens (swirly bokeh), is also never quite right

ND filters can't be digital unless it's in-camera and is a glorified way of smoothly during the ISO down to ISO 1, 0001 ISO at a time.
