>>4188000It's not like knowing computer science, the entire reason you have the ability to feel sympathy and even empathy for animals is because of your evolutionary past as a hunter gatherer - it is the instinctive ability to better predict their behavior instead of sit there and be confused by the weird moving object. These cognitive skills are so primitive that they go all the way back to chimps, and have independently evolved in other predators. It is naturally piss easy for you to figure out, like a labrador retriever learning to play fetch. As soon as you go out there and TRY you will realize. People who can not score more than 80 on an IQ test master this skill as children and it requires the bare minimum of reasoning ability.
The most difficult part of this photographer's journey was saving up enough money to both spend a week in africa, buy a big honking zoom and nice camera to put it on, and have a guide watch his back in case of hyenas and lions. Figuring out where the wildebeest were going was piss easy and you can do this on any continent, just walk around and watch the animals. If you can't get it you've got to be chinese or something.
