Sony's new flagship phone has a full 1 inch sensor with multiple Zeiss lenses.

I think this kills the APS-C. "Computational photography" and AI makes using this much faster and easier than a regular camera.

The RX100VII didn't even kill micro four thirds. But it's nice that they're killing uh, samsung phones? Do you know why? Strong diffraction, tiny shitty lens, a stop of noise well past micro four thirds which was on the edge of garbage. This phone has an even tinier shittier lens.

I already don't trust any sony SOOC jpeg to be truth and believe every sony picture must have the raw available because of clear image zoom employing a very primitive form of this. This will make it even worse.

And it gets worse than that. Sony was among the small handful of brands I could trust images from at least somewhat because GLOBOHOMO is in with canon and nikon - they supply the unwitting enemies of the US and their cameras have built in surveillance and possible WWAN access, along the lines of intel processors that can connect to public wifi while your computer is off. Next time you wonder why R and Z cameras are so fucking big, far beyond the size needed fo rthe mount, before someone says "for the better weather sealing of course" remember the A7C and A7IV have the same better weather sealing and sony's issue was they just didn't put any gaskets in the camera at all. The real answer is they contain additional surveillance hardware and possibly an extra processor for real time EVF and final capture manipulation.

Physical aperture matters. Without a large aperture a large sensor is wasted. You can have a medium format sensor (53.4 x 40mm!) and yet the performance will be lower than full frame if it doesn't have the aperture to match. This is the same but worse.

That's subjective. But the image quality is better, it made me want to shoot more (since it's something new and exciting), I enjoyed the process.
I didn't get art gallery level results, but I don't regret investing into it. It also cost the same as a new ASPI-E system, so it's really a no brainier.
