Modern camera equipment is INCREDIBLE compared to the previous eras of digital cameras. You can take extremely high ISO photos in almost night-time conditions, and still have so much detail retained, such good color depth, and minimal noise (with grain that actually looks good in some situations). You can focus on the eyeball of a person or animal when it's moving, and capture the subject in focus with very little effort. Lenses and sensors are so sharp that your base ISO performance can resolve even the eyelashes on sparrows in flight with ease.
However, modern cameras are also incredibly expensive, and most of the photos you probably have seen in your life or which you consider "good" were taken with a 2010's-era digital camera. There are very few photos that you actually need the latest capabilities to capture, which you can't compensate for with photographer or developer skill.
I've been fucking around a lot with my 50D recently, and aside from the viewfinder only having 95% coverage, which is a real annoyance, I find that, with just a little bit more work on my part, and paying a little more attention to lighting, I can get perfectly satisfactory photos with it, every bit as much of "keepers" as I ever got with my R6, and the 50D only costs $100.
