I am looking for renowned or respected photographers who are known to have photographed Oregon/the PNW in black and white.
I recently moved to Eugene from Southern California, and I’m having a difficult creative block. The environment here is so unlike what I’m used to photographing, which is rocky deserts, mountains, etc.
Things always look better to my eyes than they end up looking in Lightroom, especially when I convert them to B/W. There’s a lot more green here, obviously, so a lot of shots end up being very flat tonaly, and contrast from sunlight vs. deeply wooded areas feels too extreme.
I would like to see how other people have photographed this region and evaluate techniques that could help me bring out better images and provide general inspiration.
Pic is just a snapshit from my phone that I couldn’t get to look right from my actual camera.
