Framing, leading lines, rule of thirds, power points, dead space... these are all ways to lead the viewer where you want.
In your picture, I would have taken a moment and decided what my subject was. Probably the horse and foal. I would have moved the camera to the right so the 2 were center-left in the shot and the other 2 horses not there at all.
There's a lot more that can be done, but getting your intended subject where it draws your attention should be the starting point.
In my picture, it's not a great shot. Missed the focus, but the composition is similar to what I would have done in your picture. There were other deer around, but only having these 2 in the shot avoided distraction. And they were on the left, moving into the dead space of the picture.
