I kinda miss the D200, it had great CCD colour. The low light performance didn't bother me, I'm mostly a film shooter, so I'm happy with flash etc.

The s5 pro is a different animal all together. The Supper CCD was fantastic, and shits all over CMOS. But the camera was slow as ballz, if you shoot any kind of burst or rapid succession, expect to wait till you can shoot more.

True, recently I have not been doing as much night photography. But I don't feel like it is significantly better than what I was getting before with my crop sensor. Just get the expose to within 3 stops.

I do only minor cropping, I try to get the framing as close as possible in camera. I only generally crop stylistically.

Sure, but I'm still not convinced you NEED full frame to get good results from it. Here is crop. I think a lot of people want full frame and that's fine but I wish people would just admit it's not necessary, it's just nice to have.

I agree, if you're buying a DSLR now, you might as well get FF unless crop would specifically benefit you and the way you shoot.

ain't nobody paying $300 for no D200
they're like 150 USD if they're tested and confirmed working by the seller, and 30 USD if the seller is some lazy fuck that doesn't have a battery so doesn't know if the thing works or not
ebay must be adding in $150 shipping to whatever remote corner of the world you're trying to send it to

But you should OP. It's a great camera and costs peanuts. The build quality is great, and the colors are special. After walking around a few times with it you'll start seeing scenes that would look great on ccd.
It's not by any means "better" than modern Nikons, the dynamic range is very thin and not forgiving, ISO above 800 is garbage, etc. But I enjoy mine for sentimental reasons.
