I'm trying to figure out how to capture video in a style similar to something 80s horror movies. Think things like The Fog, Return of the Living Dead (1 and 2), Night of the Creeps, etc... Really anything by John Carpenter in that era
Obviously it's a dumb question because the answer is to shoot film or it'll never look like that. But that being said here are my notes so far about achieving that look
>All shot in 1.33:1 on spherical lenses
>35mm Full frame
>low contrast image with high contrast lighting
>high color contrast lighting, mostly reds, blues, and purples
>actual night shots instead of day for night
>white balance runs on the cool side and not favoring either green or magenta
Anyone else have any observations about the qualities I could reproduce without shooting film? Also any other movie recommendations would be appreciated.
