now the R5, I don't know a lot about canon brain but it seems to me that Canon buyers are made up of a bit more of the braindead average consoomer than the other brands. so you get people who are like "durr what's the BEST CAMERA from CANON because I know that brand!" and they get the result "the R5". the same applies to low level professionals like wedding photogs who don't really look to much into stuff, they just want "the best" from the most mainstream camera brand.
and then of course all the iphone photos should just be banned.

I like dead Flickr groups with no posts for years. Most people cross post their photos in like 50 groups so any recent groups you just see the same photos over and over. Dead groups from 10-15 years ago are peak comfy and a snapshot into the past. People photographed different back then.

I used to shoot on film a bit in photography club in high school back in the aughts, but I'm an absolute novice and I hear good things about the tutorial modes the SL3 has. It's more or less why I picked it over the M50 kit on that site (plus this kit has a better lens apparently), I figured it'll be fun to teach my son with when he's a little older if I can use the spoonfeeding mode to git gud.

Also I can't find any reviews for that Optex lens, it's gonna be shit right?

The $1,200 Tamron E 50-400 has roughly the same IQ as the $650 Canon RF 100-400, and is not nearly as sharp as the L variants. In any case, whatever your budget or IQ needs, you have plenty of tele zoom options on RF.

remember: anyone can crop or print big with too many megapixels, but for video, your audiences display needs to keep up with the resolution/framerate, and most people shooting video do not apply extreme color grading so 4k 30p 8 bit is perfectly fucking fine if not overkill.

Used 100-400L II's can be found in great condition for nearly the same price as the Tamron 50-400, and they kick the shit out of that Tamron on IQ. And the RF 100-400 is nearly half the price for the same IQ.

So again, what options are missing for RF? What is that you can't shoot on RF because gosh darn it, there just isn't the right lens?

This started because I pointed out that the R5 is the best high rez hybrid. Best IBIS, best AF, fastest shooter in its segment, best video/fewest video compromises. Maybe that's why so many R5 photos are uploaded to Flickr?

Sony does it better again, and faster without much of a size penalty. Can canon do a basic 50? Go check. RF hasn't matched the 50 1.4 GM yet. EF never matched the 55 1.8. The huge and pricey 50mm f1.2L came pretty close though.

RF is a half baked system. Give it another five years before rambling about video codecs that almost nobody needed until they showed up in the shill videos.

Tamron 50-400 top, Canon EF 100-400L II bottom, both at 400mm wide open. (I accidentally mislabeled the image title with 500 instead of 400.) The Tamron 50-400 and RF 100-400 are fine by consumer standards, but the IQ on the EF 100-400 and RF 100-500 L variants is much better.

Fuck that 50mm. For that price point they should have focused on improving IQ and forgotten trying to make it wider. Otherwise forget making it wider and match Canon's price. 50mm cannot possibly justify 2x the cost. Nobody buys that class of zoom for the wide end.
