What kind of lens do you think this was shot with?
Seems like it was taken fairly close up [doubt she's far from the camera] and also manages to have most of her body in the shot, so I'm guessing full-frame around 16mm?
What would be your ideal lens for models to stream like that?

Look up a comparison image of someone's face at 20mm and someone's face at 80mm. You'll know why.

The only reason wide works here is that her face is far enough away to not get distortion. Full body portraits can and often are taken with wide angles when you want to make the subject appear smaller in relation to the background.

they don't, the use of wide angles is purely about getting as much of the body into the frame as possible, even with the camera at close distances, it's for practical reasons not aesthetical ones

So I'm not fully understanding. Is the goal of portrait more to take accurate photos of people rather than good[i.e. flattering] photos people?

Makes sense to me especially if shooting in a small room. Just not a lot of room to put the camera far away.
Might there be some other way to do it better?

If she were standing to avoid distorting her own body she would look normal... from very far away.

People are getting used to the wide angle distortion look due to masturbating to it too much (did i mention anime proportions? yeah, i bet your jerk off to that too), but wide angles are only used on cheap consumer cameras because they also get more in focus.

Anon, the wides make them look good to cooomers who get off seeing as much T&A as possible. The average woman doesn't feel flattered by the look.
Telephotos let you take a portrait from afar and make noses for example seem less prominent and people slimmer to an extent.

Which I understand. They're mostly for a different setting. Professional, Documentation, family photos, etc.
But do they really have no use for more sexually charged content? For say a high quality tinder thot photo?
Like just a bad idea in general for women trying to show off curves? Like I'd guess that slimming effect wouldn't just work on belly fat.

Makes sense. Different shots for different aesthetics.
And given that a lot of these types of industries, such as the fashion industry, are run by gays, they like to shoot their models to look as much like guys as possible.
Then you have Hollywood which has had been forced to desexualize at various points in the past.

Given that climate it makes a lot of sense that the discourse isn't really focused on the Kim K aesthetic and that if you're trying to go for that look, the standard advice doesn't apply to you.
In our more open era though with smaller independent creators they're able to explore how to do it a bit better.

I'm not skilled enough to spot a major difference. I can kind of see the distortions on the 24 but the 35 and 50 look great. 85 maybe too flat.

35 looks alright because she's not even close to filling the frame. These seem cropped anyways so it's not a good comparison.
Lens compression is a myth, what matters is distance to subject. A longer lens simply lets you retain the detail from farther away (increases reach).

99% of model photography is about how good the model looks. I've seen plenty of photos that are total dogshit technically but are still pleasing to look at because the person is attractive. If you're getting into high art/fashion photography then the technicals start to matter a lot more.
