Canon R7, RF 100-400 f/5.6-8
ISO 6400, f/8.0, 1/1250 Shutter Speed
It's about 1/3 crop of the original image. Sharpened up in LR, with some unsharpness masking across the whole image.
Those results come out pretty good as is, but I wanted to push for more resolution of the hairs, and I find AI based denoising causes unwanted color shifts and texture changes on insects. Instead, I used a subject detection mask, and then duplicated and inverted it. The inverted mask had some extra NR to my taste, and then the subject mask has extra sharpening. DESU, working with the same image in Canon's DPP produced similar results with less steps, but DPP is slower and harder to work with IMO.
To be honest, it felt a little silly to jump from m43 to an APS-C crop in 2023, but I realized the R7 with a 24 f/1.8 macro and RF 100-400 covers most of my needs. I'll get a 100-500 at some point, maybe a used EOS R for lowlight/family photos.
