It's an useful feature, having a vast catalog of lenses to shoot with. I have a Nikon lens on one of my EOS bodies right now. I couldn't do the same with a Nikon body. In fact I couldn't use that lens on just any Nikon body but a handful of bodies that are able to support it properly because unlike EF, F mount had an evolution since its inception, being a much older mount that predates many advances in camera technology. By the time EF was born most advances were either there or could be predicted, and it shows. Introduced over 3 decades ago, the mount had no changes since.
