Hi /p/, tourist here. I'm a metallurgist, so I often do photography of extremely flat things about 0.25-0.001 in. in size. I need advice on a camera to take lower magnification photographs of full parts (6-18 in length) and a lens for macro photographs of areas roughly 1x1 cm.
Needs:
>digital
>good depth of field / aperture range
>good range of ISO value control to manage glare from shiny spots
>mountable on a tripod
Budget:
>~$5-9k total although closer to $3k is better
This will be mounted and excellent lighting control will be available, meaning a zoom lens will be best. I assume something with a low minimum focusing distance would be best. I've looked up DSLR cameras and macro lenses but I'm not sure what would be best for this application. Any suggestions?
