Can somebody please explain how red and purple blend so nicely on the color wheel.

If you look at the color spectrum in a rainbow or into a prism those two are opposite ends of the visable light spectrum we can see. It makes no sense for them to merge together.

It is due to the way our eyes are designed, really it should look like a hard clash but it doesnt.
