So, I got the Sony A7iiis, and it was good as long as I used it on auto. I feel that’s the only major selling point. Basically idiot proof and an all around good camera.
The problem was that my video content started looking so basic, because this camera almost forces you to be as basic as possible.
For YouTube, you get this nice bokeh, sharp image and everything, but it’s as original as starting in a gaming channel.
You can get 90% of the results with a GoPro.
So I thought about ways to stand out on YouTube, and then it hit me.
Cinema lenses. As long as I use them right and don’t fall into the “basic” well of filming, then that can work.
Many people think that the “cinematic look” Is a lot of slow motion, colored lights and shooting it like a Netflix movie. But they are not creative people. Same with photography. If you’re not creative, then you’re just being basic, spending hours editing birds and flowers.
I got myself some Sirui anamorphic lenses, and it changed everything.
BUT the Sony was no good with this.
The AF was now unusable and the anamorphic lenses didn’t really work that good on it.
I looked around and I saw some reviews on the GH6. It seems like it was made for manual focus and even for anamorphic lenses.
And it’s been amazing using it.
For what I do, it’s the perfect camera. And I would have saved a lot of money if I knew more about it other than buying what everyone else buys because they can’t work the manual focus.
