What the hell is all this bullshit about telling a story with a photograph or a photograph telling you more about the photographer than the subject.
Why is photography seen as high art when 99.99% of it is shit. Let's be honest, people only like photography because it's easier than drawing/painting and men love gear and technical equipment.
Will post some of my mediocre pics for crit as well.

I think you answered your own question. Photography is seen as art because most of it is shit. Therefore to be able to take a good picture of any random subject is a skill. Take a random suvject, and ask ten people to take a picture of it with a good camera after briefly explaining the camera functions to them, and then ask one professional/reputable photographer to take a picture of the same subject. The fact that the pro can take the better picture than the others is why it’s art. Idk about the telling a story thing, I think it’s just how do you take everyday occurrences and frame them in a visually appealing manner.

Same with drawing, sure drawing has more of a skill curve (to a degree because some people are just great at drawing their whole lives) but anybody can draw some shit like anybody can take a picture, but it requires a pro to make it into art. Of course a good drawer is more impressive than a good photographer but that’s not the question. There’s been more people in history who have drawn something, anything at all, than taken pictures, so same principles apply that anybody can do it, but the artists make it pop different to the brain
