>>4265185You're not an artist, this is the thing
You are a tech bugman. A car guy. A wrencher. Tinkerer. No creativity. You're a sports player, but you never got any good at sports. That's why you see these things as contests of ability - sports and cars are more your thing, not art.
You see photography as a technical activity like driving or fixing a car with a right way to do it to be a "good driver" and using traction control or ABS disqualifies you, because that's you. You're a bugman. Sportsbrained. You only see the process (a contest where there isn't one) instead of the end result of the work. You are an NPC. An ape-man stuck in ape-society where ALL actions are part of the dominance and mating struggle and results oriented works like art are totally outside of your comprehension - but not a self aware one or you'd no absolutely no one gives a fuck. Not other men, especially not more important one, and not one single woman on earth cares that you manually ensured the photo looked like it should SOOC instead of having to tweak exposure, WB, and colors in post. No one. Just you, and ken rockwell.
You see using a fill light before capture as better than a shadow lift post capture because it requires more time, effort, and resources. That makes it more good for an ape-brained sports bugman like you, because more effort is more good and doing things intelligently is cheating. You see letting AWB fuck up and fixing it later as cheating, while setting WB correctly and manually is sportsmanlike. That's your brain, and all that is in it, you bug. Sportsmanlike - Who is the better man who worked harder and therefore is more winningest than the rest?
But you miss the point of this activity. It's not about working harder and following rules. It's about having the intellect and emotional stability to produce art by whatever means.
And that is why you are not and will never be a good photographer.
